my cousin and i are trying to figure out how far apart we can be to get a connection through bluetooth. How far can we be apart and connect through bluetooth..

oh yeah and is it free??

Depends on what device(s) you are using.

Most Bluetooth devices have a range of about 10 meters (~30 feet). While some devices (usually laptops) have higher power and can transmit up to 100 meters (~300 feet).

But Bluetooth doesn't do well going through things like walls or metal, so in a house you may get a much smaller range.

And yes, it is free. Bluetooth is all local, not over the cellular network.
