I need help with my new cellphone!!? Pls!!?

I just recieved my samsung sch-u340 today in the mail. I put in on the charger, and about three hours later, it said that it was fully charged. i turned it on, and on the main screen in a box, it read "intial programming needed." What does that mean. i tried to use the cell to call verizon for assistence, and the phone said it is unable to make the call. Pls help. I'm 14, and suck at technical stuff, so pls make your answer easily understandable. Thanx!!

ok, what you need to do is call into Verizon customer service for pre-paid and request an ESN change. on the box there should be a white sticker with a bunch of numbers on it, one of them should be labeled ESN DEC, or look on the phone under where you put the battery. There should be a white sticker there with a DEC #, that is the esn. Verizon will want to talk to an adult or whoever's name is on the account to do the ESN change.

Once Verizon does the change you'll need to dial *228 and press "send". You'll here a short message from Verizon, press "1" to program your phone. It'll take about 1 minute to program and you'll hear music while it's doing it.

Look in the box for the SIM card. You have to install your SIM card so the phone knows who you are.

Once you find the card look in the manual for installation instructions.
