A cross-question in the order of the iphone and i tunes?
I want to download songs onto my iphone to use as ringtones but when i go onto itunes within are no songs that can be downloaded as ringtones. I have gone into View and ticked the ringtone so that the ringtone column shows up surrounded by the store but there doesnt give the impression of being to be any songs that are compatible. Am I doing something wrong? Also, is it really true I cant use the hundreds of songs I already have on itunes as ringtones? Seems a bit of a ripoff if you cant.
By the route I LOVE my iphone!
Answers: I know how to do it for free.
Ringtones are only allowed to be 30 second in length and apple charge you to do this for some insane judgment...
Find a song you want
Find 30 seconds you want. ( write down where on earth the 30 second starts and ends)
Then right click and click on get info for that track
Click option, and type in the start time and extension time
Click ok
Then right click on the track again and click "convert to AAC"
Once this is done (should be pretty quick)
Right click on that file once again and click show surrounded by finder/find on my computer
then amend the extension to .m4r (ringtone)
Copy this file to your desktop
Delete it from your itunes consequently drag the new .m4r profile into itunes.
Then Voila you should have anything ringtone you want.
you can singular make ringtones out of songs that you purchased sour of itunes, if you have songs contained by your itunes library off of cd's or that you enjoy downloaded (not from itunes) you will not be able to net them into ringtones.
