I have tried Samsung, but found the ariel too weak compared to my old Nokia phone.

You should go to a place where there is not many others trying to get a signal so there will be less phone interference.
What model of USB cable you need..
it has little to do with the ariel, lots to do with the network, change network to one that has a better coverage, most give coverage details on their sites
How can i buy an unlocked sidekick..
what planet are bob & literary angel on.. the clue is in the question...... which explicitly says you are using the same service provider / network and found a Samsung worse than a Nokia.
So assuming that your network didn't decide to turn off the signal then its a varaition in the phone that you are seeing
I can't say which is the best. however I have recently switched from a QTEK 8020 to a Nokia E50. the signal strength on the Nokia is noticably better than the QTEK... likewise an Orange SPV E200 is worse. I too live in a area of dicey reception (on Vodafone). Presumably a site such as gsmarena.com can give you some info on that
incidentally battery power has a significant impact on signal strength and vice versa. if you are in a dicey reception area the phone tries harder to connect to the base station... so low battery means more frequent drop outs, poor reception means shorther battery life.
Anyone have an idea of where I..
Not the handset more the provider. Orange have the best UK coverage especially for more rural area's.
Radio communications / handset performance are affected by many things, such as the sensitivity of the handsets' receiver, the transmitted power, and the overall ERP [effective radiated power] of the handset, which is combination of the RF power of the chip, the matching of this chip to the aerial, and the efficiency of the handsets aerial.
Not to mention geographical considerations.
I will assume you had the sense to try out sim cards from the rival networks in your area, to get a 'feel' for individual network operator's performance. [some operators provide free sims too - how useful]
Draw up a simple table. Make calls / note signal strength where you are likely to spend most of your time, eg, work, home, best friends' places, hang-outs, and also make calls on typical routes you will drive. Nothing more annoaying, then re-dialling 5 times on a 10 min drive....
Have chosen the network operator with the greatest coverage in your specific part of the world, you now have to choose a handset with a highly-sensitive receiver. These specifications were quoted in sales literature some years ago, but today you have to do it by trial-and-error. Borrow [if possible] a handset you aspire to own, and give it a road-test.
You WILL find significant differences between handsets.
IF, network performance is still shakey, then you may have to consider an older-handset, with an external aerial. This will allow you to unscrew and remove the OEM aerial, and fit an aftermarket, higher-performance aerial, which, if you choose a recommended one, will undoubtedly improve your ability to access, and stay connected to your network.
But remember, no aerial / handset, can correct for valleys, or other geographical anonomlys.
Good luck.
Cell phone?
Reception depends both on the network coverage and also on the sensitivity of the phone's receiver. So sign up with a network with the best coverage for your area (someone else has recommended Orange) - and get a good phone (Nokia phones have good radio receivers).
What is the best phone surrounded by..
Nokia generally have good signal, but I've found that the best signal in my area at least, tends not to be for make of phone but network.
