I am getting a cell phone sooner or later. And my mom and sister are the lone 2 in the household that have phones. They're beside alltel. I cannot switch plans. So, the problem is this: I do not like any of alltels phones they provide. So, I am looking on eBay for a different phone. But beforehand I buy anything, I want to know if alltel lets you buy a phone they DON'T provide, but still tolerate you use their service? HELP!
Answers: Don't listen to Saad K. Alltel phones don't use sim cards. Their network is base on CDMA, like Sprint or Verizon. Only GSM networks close to AT&T/Cingular or T-Mobile use sim cards. Technology wise, phones from Verizon or Sprint should work, but I believe they enjoy blocks in place to prevent this from scheduled. Your best bet is to suck it up and just go and get an Alltel phone. They can't all be doomed to failure.
