I lately get a ROKR Z6m and i'm looking for a memory card?

The Alltel website says it will support up to a 2GB card, but I want to put an 8GB card within. Would that work? If not, why? I don't see any problems with have that much memory, since the music player is pretty advanced.

That's a sweet looking phone. Since even Motorola says that it will support just up to 2 GB microSD, I wouldn't go above that. Two foremost reasons:

Often (or other?) 8GB comes in the SDHC format (HC for dignified capacity), and not all devices that support SD or microSD can support SDHC or microSDHC.

Also, even if you stay inside the same format (no HC), sometimes the device will not certify the extra capacity. I enjoy a LG phone that can go up to 1 GB microSD. If I install a 2 GB card, it will work, but singular up to the 1 GB. The extra 1 GB is wasted.
