How to create cellphone ringtones beside a song I own on it?

I have a unsullied Samsung Sync. I put a song on it and I want to create it to a ringtone. It is copied to my 2gig memory card and to the phone. I have an Apple computer (g4 and g5) and I use the g4 for my music. I also hold a SandDisk card reader. I have tried to journal the song on my phone using my iPod speakers, but the result is very staticky. Thank you for you abet!
