I can't appear to find my cell phone.?

I lost my phone at my friends house so I started calling it and it kept ringing and ringing so I'm guessing no one stole it. I call my friends house to see if he could run downstairs and see if it was within his kitchen but he is always too baked playing Halo3 to do anything productive! My biggest consternation is that it was stolen but I call it all afternoon yesterday and just kept ringing and ringing and going to my voice e-mail. My question is if someone stole my phone why would they go it on for so long ringing? When people steal phones don't they thieve the SIM out ASAP and burn it? I'm going to look for it today..wish me luck!

ps. I a short time ago bought this damn thing resembling a few days ago and I want it back! People are also relating me to call Cingular and shut the phone rotten but since its still ringing I'm not too worried, or should I be? Any advice at adjectives would be helpful!
