Does AT&T have a shield against the kid who cracked his iphone?
The way I see it, the kid bought the phone and it is his. If he can get hold of around the monopolizing way AT&T have its hold on him more power to him.
Answers: AT&T has no shield, when you buy a phone it becomes yours, completely yours, do you honestly assume they charge you 600 dollars for a rental. Wouldn't surprise me if AT&T tried anyway. The Iphone is a piece of crap anyway and apple is getting ready to disregard it for a improved replacement, I guess it have so many problems from the start that they want to develop it this time before dropping it on the common herd.
I would hope not. Honestly, anyone could have done it and sold that expensive information to any of AT&T's competitors. I say more power to this kid, he's get a great future ahead!
No, they can't do anything to anyone you cracks the iPhone and if you try and unlock yours the worst that can come to pass is it will invalidate the warranty - even though that only happen in some methods -

this page list all the ways to unlock and whether it voids the warranty or not.
haha no mode. Everyone unlocks their phones. and the iPhone shouldn't be an issue. and even if ATT does. That kid would have companies to wager on him up. Screw ATT. They sucked enough money out of us already.
