Answers: That's a great question. I hold no idea.
I do know that you can not do it from the iPhone interface.
You could try viewing properties after downloading to your computer, but I'm pretty sure it will of late list the date you've downloaded it, not the creation date. I wonder if you tried viewing the pic surrounded by something like photoshop? Hmm... i'd try it for you but getting on a plane and will not be implicit TECH stuff for 2 weeks... gotta love vacation!
