Update to iphone on existing contract without tally 2-years?

I have an AT&T plan lower than my dad's name. The plan runs out subsequent June. I want to get an iPhone, but is here a way to update the phone short extending the contract (or paying a cancellation fee)? I want to procure a plan in my term when the plan runs out, but I don't want to prematurely cancel my plan because of fees.

Answers:    AT&T would be better competent to answer this.I can tell you around Alltel,my sign up was within Nov.04 so I upgraded my phone in August.06 and consequently Aug.08.The two year plan is really good for you, as it keep your payments from changing and it get you the rebates on the phone you want,next to out the rebates you reimburse retail prices...Call AT&T and ask them what you can do,it appears you would not be doing an upgrade as you would be starting a NEW account,REQUIRING a credit check on you,not your dad.....

NO PROBLEM .......but the reality is all cell companies require a contract near calling plans even a pay as you be in motion plan has a contract .
