Can you put unpurchased music on an iPhone?

I've heard rumors roughly speaking people not self able to put unpurchased music on their iPhones. It nouns kind of dumb but it could be something apple would do. Please answer just if you have an iPhone, no guesses.

You can put "unpurchased" music on your iPhone simply fine. It will play AAC or MP3.

FYI, AAC is not an Apple audio format. It's "Advanced Audio Coding" - it's an open standard.

You can rip music to your own iTunes library contained by AAC format or MP3. You can copy those songs to the iPhone without problems.

So, those rumors that you're audible range are completely false.
