Adding 1 iPhone to a Family Plan?

I'm on a family plan and I'm going on for to buy the iPhone, but I read somewhere that you can't add an iPhone to a own flesh and blood plan that has common phones as the other accounts on the plan. Is this true?

Also, my account have unlimited text, medium, etc. messaging ($19.99/month) ... what happens to this plan when I achieve my iPhone. It seems rediculous that i'll hold to pay more a month to smaller quantity messaging options.

we did it! check with your at&t guys to be sure (not the local, the corporate stores)

And we started next to the family plan and replaced syncs beside the iPhone!


UPDATE:
the AT&T site referenced by the Sprint user below has nil to do with the familial plan.
Your best bet would for you to start a "new account" beside the iphone rate plans, then "add/merge" the other narrative and lines. Each phone that is a non-iphone costs 9.99, basically like the regular house plans. Each iphone that you add to the plan (after the first two) would cost $29.99.

Generally PDA background plans start around $30 for unlimited data, so its really not a doomed to failure deal compared to the current rates.

EDIT: and no you didnt read wrong, you technically cannot add an iphone to an existing portrayal, you must create a new story and then merge them underneath the iphone rate plan.

EDIT2: btw, changing these rate plans on the current depiction will extend the contract, merging the two accounts after creating a new vindication for your iphone shouldnt. I highly suggest you do this within that order to avoid contract extentions on the other lines.
