are you talking around the actual handset or the service.

at the moment in the UK the headset is pretty cheap till early june at o2 stores as they are getting rid of the 8GB models.

I bought one from o2 for lb99.00 (fgot my brothers staff discount) normally they cost lb169.99 IIRC
if you appropriate out the call time package instead of doing as i did and unloacking it to work beside an existing contract the call time is about lb30 or lb35 a month for the straightforward tarrif.

personally its an ok phone.. but it has serious limitaions...
but its handy have everything in one package
and at the discounted rate that they deal in for at the moment its worth buying one even if you only use it as an ipod and for the wifi when your out and about.
Most places trade them for around lb300 to lb350

I don't know how much in the USA but probably less as they come out earlier over there :)
$399.00 or $499.00. You should hang about until June as there are rumors that the new magazine will be out with 3G and AT&T may offer rebate. I'm thinking, and this is just what I've heard, that the topical iPhone costs right around a quater of a BILLION DOLLARS
