The first choice they dispense you will be the refurbished SAME model. Only when they cannot give you the same model, any because they are out of it or simply not available, they won't let you pick anything else.
Have you had your Tilt for smaller number than 30 days? If so, why not just trade it in for the iPhone? There is a $50 non-refundable excise with insured phones. They will replace it with another Tilt or comparable phone - not sure if you enjoy a choice of phone's although the Tilt runs about the same price as the iPhone. The entry is, you can't get insurance through AT&T for the iPhone - that needs to come from Apple.
This is not true. First if you intentionally break the phone you won't be able to get an insurance replacement and if you tell stories that is considered insurance fraud (they will inspect the phone). Second the Tilt is a current phone that AT&T sells and you will bring another one just like it if you database an insurance claim. Third the iPhone is not insurable through AT&T nor is the warranty handled through AT&T so they are not going to have the iPhone to replace the Tilt. Fourth due to the cost of the iPhone AT&T won't furnish you a free one no matter how much you complain, they cannot even order one since they are merely available in a store location.
