Unlocked Iphone for Sprint?

Is an unlocked phone bad? Ive heard mixed reviews from unsourced opinions, so someone who know what they're talking about would be really helpfull.
Answers:
The iPhone cannot be unlocked and used for Sprint. No GSM phone can be used on the Sprint exchange cards. Source(s): iPhone owner
The iPhone is a GSM phone and is not compatible with Sprint as they employ a different see tehnology - CDMA, which is also Verizons network. I have bought several unlocked phones in olden times and there is no problem with them. Nokia for example sells adjectives unlocked phones. I currently have an iPhone on AT&T but I hear you aren't able to take full ascendancy of iphone's 3G data services on Tmobile due to the Mhz incompatability with their HSPA network.
I have an unlocked iPhone for T-Mobile, and I've be using it since January. I haven't had any problems with it. If you unlock your iPhone, don't update the firmware from iTunes unless it's a modified one, because it could wipe your iPhone and un-unlock it.

For sprint, I'm not sure if they use SIM cards. If they do, you can just unlock the phone and swap SIMs. I'm pretty sure they don't and iPhones can lone be unlocked for a carrier that uses SIMs.
