I currently use my mobile phone as my alarm clock to wake me up in the mornings since its loud and can still generate the alarm even tho the phone is switched off.
How loud is the alarm on the new iphone 3g? loud satisfactory to wake me up? and will the alarm activate even if the iphone is surrounded by sleep mode?

Answers: The alarm is pretty loud, they made the new iPhone's speaker louder than the old reworked copy, and yes it does wake from sleep mode.
I just tested it, and my girlfriend jump up from her desk halfway across the house to find out what the heck the loud noise be. :)
Sleep mode basically shuts the screen sour, but everything else is running in the background still, including alarms, getting emails, etc.
