I have verizon now and im eligible to upgrade my phone
my friend have the iphone and i love it but he has cingular
so is there anyway i can hold the iphone and keep my service with verizon?

Nope. Sorry to race your hopes, but they use different cellular technologies, The iPhone uses GSM(Global System for Mobile)
versus Verizon uses CDMA. They are incompatible
Not unless your an electronics phenomenon, and even then I'm not sure it's possible, the iPhone, which works on the AT&T Network, may not be the same net type Verizon is CDMA, I'm not sure what AT&T is, but it wouldn't be easy if you could do it. I've read on CNet that the iPhone will be coming to other carriers soon, so cross your fingers.
